The primary job responsibility of the Staff Accountant is the oversight of the organization’s accounts payable functions.

This includes check processing, maintaining accounting files, reconciling vendor statements and using online tools and accounts to maintain work efficiencies it may also include daily cash reconciliations, cash audits and miscellaneous accounts receivable.

This person will be responsible for monthly accrual entries, employee reimbursements, adherence to internal controls and assistance of general accounting functions.

The Staff Accountant will assist the Senior Accountant and Finance Manager in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and journal entries as needed.What you’ll doResponsible for all accounts payable functions, including the use of online systems and tools.Maintains accounts payable files and other miscellaneous filings.Ensure appropriate recording of business expenses and revenues, with knowledge of the accrual method of accounting.Reconciles vendor statements to accounts payable accounts and effectively communicates with vendors and Purchasing as necessary to resolve any account discrepancies.Works collaboratively with Accounting and Purchasing Department staff routinely.Assists Practice Managers with reporting and forecasting needs.Processes and prepares vendor payments for Senior Accountant; including reconciling to AP software.

Support for all cash functions, including working with Revenue Cycle on daily reconciliations of patient accounts receivables.Support the reconciliation of all cash and credit accounts daily and monthly, including making daily bank deposits.Processing, billing and receipts of miscellaneous Accounts Receivable.Ensure appropriate recording of business expenses and revenues, with knowledge of the accrual method of accounting.Prepares monthly accrual entries as necessary.Reconciling of staff reimbursements; including adherence to supporting documentation policies.Ensures appropriate controls are adhered to by assuming responsibility for effectively researching, tracking, and resolving (or properly referring) accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.Communicates effectively with other departments to obtain and convey information and/or to correct transactions.Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.Aid in the formation and maintenance of CMA’s Finance / Accounting policies.Attends and participates in meetings as required.Ensures that work area is clean, secure, well maintained and organized.Assists Accounting Department personnel as needed.Our ideal candidate has this knowledge, skill, and abilityMicrosoft Office productsNetSuite and/or similar accounting system softwareCapable of generating clear and organized reports in a timely fashion.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.High degree of professionalism and confidentiality requiredConsiderable knowledge of bookkeeping practices, techniques, and terminology.

Considerable knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices, with the ability to record financial transactions of a business in accordance with GAAP.
