b’JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARYnJOB DESCRIPTIONnThe Director of Strategic Innovation will be responsible for building and leading the future innovation strategy and pipeline and partnering with key stakeholders to develop the front-end innovation engine through identification of new products, technologies, solutions, and business development opportunities aligned with business strategy and growth targets. Capability development and advancing a culture and mindset of innovation will be foundational.xc2xa0 They will be responsible for identifying, investigating and presenting external products, product lines, technologies, companies and investment opportunities which will positively impact top line sales growth for VAD.xc2xa0 This position will identify, investigate, assess, and make recommendations to New Business development Directors pertaining to the deal specific value proposition for VAD to acquire new lines of sales and businesses. This position will also support market assessments for adjacent markets to help prioritize internal and external opportunities outside of the core VAD markets.xc2xa0 This position reports to the Worldwide VP/GM, VAD and is a member of the VAD Leadership team.xc2xa0nThis position interfaces with appropriate VAD management and will work with Corporate Development to the negotiation strategy and tactics of VADxe2x80x99s deals.xc2xa0 This position will also work closely with legal to review draft contracts for proposed transactions.nEssential Job Functions:n * Contributes to VADxe2x80x99s execution of the entire business development process, from investigation, assessment, negotiation, due diligence, to closing and integration.n * Challenging the status quo and identifying areas of unmet needs through fact-based market and customer insights.n * Working internally across functions including Marketing, R&D, Medical and Regions and externally by going to conferences, studying trends, understanding guidelines and studies, working with KOLxe2x80x99s etc. to identify customer driven insights and opportunities.n * Defining, evaluating and prioritizing hunting grounds for future growth in line with MDS objectives.n * Identifying and developing an innovation strategy with a prioritized pipeline of category leading innovation initiatives that provide differentiated breakthrough solutions supporting VAD. Delivering concrete plans to accelerate revenue growth and WAMGR over the ASR and 5-year timeframe.n * Working with finance, marketing and R&D to develop business cases for new product ideas/solutions.n * Scouting opportunities for inorganic opportunities and/or partnerships that enable the innovation strategy. Evaluating companies from early company scans and pre-diligence to active due diligence. Engaging outside experts and establishing external alliances and partnerships ranging from early technology development, development partnership to commercial/supply agreements.n * Collaborating with regions to ensure innovation ideas are customer driven and will be successful in market.n * Establishing a culture of innovation through close collaboration with the Innovation Council, including deliberate steps to foster an innovation mindset and requisite capabilities across the platform and business group.n * Creates and maintains a sound understanding of the business goals and strategies, technologies, products, markets, competitive situations and key players related to VAD.n * Investigates and evaluates opportunities in sufficient depth to define the values, risks, benefits and fundamental structure of the deal.xc2xa0 Prepares and conducts a formal proposal to VADxe2x80x99s leadership team.n * Operates as the project leader and at times, the sole or principal contributor, on a focused number of identified business development investigations and assessments.nExperience/Education:n * Bachelorxe2x80x99s Degree required.xc2xa0 MBA strongly preferred.xc2xa0n * 10+ years of experience in strategic innovation, strategic marketing, Product and/or Marketing Management with a consistent track-record of high performance and resultsn * Business experience may include innovation development, marketing, sales, sales training and business development.n * Global experience preferred but not requiredn * Prior experience in management consulting or innovation function from other industry preferred but not requirednSkills:n * Experience in identifying market opportunities, market segmentation, completing competitive analysis, developing pricing strategies, and new product commercialization strategiesn * Proven strategic thinking capability including strong customer focus, needs identification and value proposition development. Proven analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and business strategies and plans.n * Innovative mindset in order to propose new and creative solutions for continuous improvement.n * Experience with innovation processes and driving innovation projects/initiatives.n * Experience with business development and inorganic opportunity identification and assessment.n * Demonstrated experience in evaluating industry business trends, including innovative and transformative technologies.n * Ability to use sound, independent reasoning and judgment to establish work priorities and identify ways to optimize project timelines and to mitigate project risks/delays.n * Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines in an environment of competing priorities. Proven ability to work in high-paced environment and routinely work on multiple tasks with multiple people while effectively prioritizing.n * Ability to develop comprehensive business cases with detailed financial analysis.n * Action oriented with demonstrated ability to drive results.n * Exhibits effective communication and interpersonal skills and can work internationally with diverse cultures.xc2xa0 Previous experience working with international team members a plus.n * Highly effective interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence that have resulted in positive relationship building (particularly cross-functional and global), with the ability to work in a matrixed organization and to influence without authority.n * Outstanding written and verbal presentation skills.n * High integrity and ethics and strong fit with BD values.n nPhysical Demands:nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools controls and office equipment.
