VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud is disrupting the extended enterprise infrastructure market – unlike conventional solutions that require complex branch and data center appliances. We see SD-WAN becoming the programmable on-ramp and platform for cloud-delivered services and applications. Job Description We seek an experienced field, partner, and customer-facing resource to join our growing team. This position relies on a person’s deep understanding of the Security/SASE market and how to position vs. the top participants in that space. Half of the role will be enabling and supporting the field in competitive situations, creating strategies and assets to increase our chances of success. The other half of the position will be to gather intelligence and analysis and leverage it to influence and enable our internal PM and PMM teams to compete and message most effectively. Clear and convincing presentation and communication skills are a MUST, as well as a strong desire to make an impact. This is a Remote Office role, with a potential for up to 50% global travel after restrictions related to COVID are lifted. A valid and current passport will be required. Role Responsibilities SASE Market competitor intelligence gathering and analysis Develop a deep understanding of VMware’s top SD-WAN/SASE competitors features, functions, and value propositions Analyze current Go-to-Market strategies, identifying strengths and weaknesses Track market forces and their influence on VMware’s current plans and strategies Gather intelligence related to competition from interactions with the field, partners, and customers Participate in win/loss collection and analysis, finding new ways to automate the process Field/Partner Support & Enablement Provide strategic guidance and customer-facing support in competitive situations Assist with the creation of sales tools and enablement, such as battle cards, playbooks, cost comparison calculators, etc Internal/External Evangelism Evangelize new assets, analysis, and tools to our field and partners Create blog posts and assist with external-facing assets and podcasts, highlighting the advantages of VMware’s SASE architecture Trusted Advisor/Thought Leader Leverage intelligence to influence and guide our product roadmap and positioning strategies Advise product management, marketing, and field leadership on the best ways to compete successfully Qualifications Minimum 5 years in a sales or field-facing position (Example: Technical Sales Engineer, Competitive Analyst, Technical Marketing Engineer, Product Management) in the networking and security industry or demonstrate equivalence Proven ability to create and deliver engaging and influential technical and non-technical presentations to internal and external audiences Outstanding communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills with the ability to address both executive and technical audiences Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills Preferably multilingual but not required Ability to translate technical material to customer business use cases. Self-starter, taking the initiative, and requiring minimal oversight. This includes the drive to learn technical material that continuously updates with aggressive timelines. Ability to quickly learn new technologies and have an ongoing desire to stay current with the latest technologies Ability to focus on results while working independently when given a broad direction and desired results Strong problem-solving skills: must be capable of accurately assessing needs, maintaining a calm business demeanor, and taking quick action to resolve issues Able to function efficiently and effectively in a fast-moving and demanding environment Experienced in digesting technical content, analyzing it and determining key value propositions and customer use cases, and present these in a distilled format Technical Requirements Expert in competitive sales and positioning Expert understanding of SASE & SD-WAN market leaders and their solutions Familiarity with public clouds (Azure, AWS, GCP), cloud management, and data centers is a plus. Proficiency with SD-WAN, branch networking, dynamic routing protocols, and VPN solutions.
